08 November 2014 - New water heater and water softener

Many friends had issues with their water heater. Some woke up with no more hot water and some others had their basement flooded...

So the decision was taken to replace our 12 years old water heater and add a water softener (the water is quite heavy in HR) which will not only make our home appliances last much longer...but also make the bathroom cleaning so much easier!!!

Our old water heater
The difficult part are all the pipes that needs to be connected correctly so ensure that the soft water remain "indoor". Using soft water for the garden will simply "burn" your yard :-(

...and I am not showing the one on the ceiling!!!

So in order to be fully equipped and up to date, we installed the following model:
  • Rheem - Performance Platinum 50 gal. Tall 12 Year 40,000 BTU Energy Star Natural Gas Water Heater
  • Home Comfort WiFi Module
  • GE - 40,000 Grain Water Softener
  • GE - water filtration system
Our water softener and filter
Our new water heater (fantastic!) - provides "almost" unlimited water!!
Full control of the temperature and integrated water leakage system with push notifications!!!
Waileng was a little skeptical at first but soon realized the benefit of the entire system (shower is super clean / water kettle is super clean too / etc...). Also, showers are now so much better and the laundry too :-)

It was blown away by how much of a different a new water heater made in our home. I was not wanting to buy a new one but finally I was convinced by a friend and I was shocked. We are in love with it. I think only people who know what a crappy water heater can be like understand.

Oh, I am so glad that you now have hot water. When we had our new water heater professionally installed by a local plumber we realised just how much hotter our water was, and that we had been simply plodding along with an unreliable heater for many years. It was so temperamental. Enjoy your hot water!
